A doubles division awarding one pair each for gold, silver and bronze needs six medals. Order only three, and one partner at each placement goes without. If divisions merge before the event, the original quantities may need to change again.
Calculate pickleball medal quantities from the players receiving each award in each division. Registration totals and match counts cannot replace that calculation. A clear award list helps you establish quantities, decide which details belong on the medals and manage changes before production.
Count Awarded Players, Not Matches or Registrations
One player may register for singles, doubles and mixed doubles, then earn a medal in more than one event. Counting that person once would understate the potential award requirement. Conversely, ordering a placement medal for every registered player could leave substantial unused stock.
Match counts do not determine award quantities either. Adding round-robin games increases playing time without necessarily creating more awards. Start with the tournament’s award policy: which divisions receive medals, which places are recognized and how many players receive each award?
Keep participation medals separate from placement medals. Decide whether participation medals go to registered players, checked-in attendees or those who complete the event. Clarify whether podium finishers receive both. These decisions establish two distinct quantities, even if the products share similar artwork.

Calculate Singles and Doubles Medals Separately
For a singles division recognizing one player each for first, second and third place, order three medals: one gold-tone, one silver-tone and one bronze-tone. Throughout this guide, gold, silver and bronze refer to medal finishes, not precious-metal content.
For doubles, award each partner a medal unless your event specifies otherwise. With one pair at each of those three places, the division needs six medals: two gold, two silver and two bronze. Specify the quantities by finish when requesting pricing; a total alone does not tell the supplier how to divide the order.
Bronze arrangements need particular attention. If the event awards bronze to two doubles pairs, that division requires four bronze medals alongside two gold and two silver, bringing its total to eight.
Use the awards policy confirmed by your tournament director. Do not assume that every division awards the same places or handles third place identically.
Build One Award Matrix Across All Divisions
Put every separately awarded division in one spreadsheet. Use a row for each combination of event, age group and skill division. Give each row a division ID so registration staff, the buyer and ceremony volunteers can identify the same allocation without relying on abbreviated names.
The following example awards one singles player or one doubles pair at each of three places in every division. Participation medals and spare stock are excluded. The age and skill categories are illustrative.
| Division ID | Event | Age Group | Skill Division | Gold | Silver | Bronze | Total |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| D01 | Men’s singles | No age restriction | 3.0 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 3 |
| D02 | Women’s doubles | 50+ | 3.5 | 2 | 2 | 2 | 6 |
| D03 | Mixed doubles | No age restriction | 4.0 | 2 | 2 | 2 | 6 |
| Total | 5 | 5 | 5 | 15 |
Mark unresolved rows as provisional. If a division might be canceled or combined with another, keep its current allocation visible until the award arrangement is confirmed. Record spare medals separately so they are not mistaken for awards already assigned to players.
Before requesting a final quote, have the tournament director confirm the divisions and award rules. Then check that the totals for gold, silver and bronze match the quantities being quoted. Date the approved list so later revisions can be identified.

Decide Which Details Belong on the Medal
The tournament name, event emblem and year may be shared across all divisions. These elements can form one recognizable design without requiring a different medal face for every age or skill category. Explore our custom award medals for examples of shapes, finishes and event artwork.
Next, decide what recipients need to see permanently. Finishes can indicate placement, but they do not identify whether someone earned the medal in singles, women’s doubles or mixed doubles. A packing label helps staff distribute awards; it cannot provide that information once the packaging is discarded.
Where division identification matters, discuss a shared front with variable text on the reverse. Engraving or printing may be suitable, depending on the surface, available space and production method. Changing raised or recessed metal lettering may require separate tooling. Ask whether minimum quantities apply to the shared design, each finish or each personalized version.
Review essential wording at the proposed finished size. A long tournament name combined with an event, age category and skill level can crowd the design. Keep permanent medal text focused, and use packaging labels for administrative details that recipients do not need. If you are still choosing dimensions, our medal size guide explains the main considerations.
Update the Order When Divisions Merge or Change
Combining divisions for play does not necessarily mean combining their awards. Two groups may compete together while retaining separate results, or become one division with a single set of awards. Confirm that distinction before changing the medal quantities.
For example, two mixed doubles divisions awarding one pair each for gold, silver and bronze need 12 medals in total. If they combine and share one set of awards, the requirement falls to six. If awards remain separate, all 12 are still needed. Calculate any added division independently; remove a canceled division’s allocation only after its awards are canceled.
Check whether the change affects quantities, artwork or both. Medals with shared event artwork and no division-specific text may be reassigned between compatible divisions. Medals already carrying a canceled division’s name need a different solution. Include reverse text, ribbons and packaging in this check.
Send one dated revision showing the previous and replacement quantities by finish, along with any affected artwork. Ask what remains possible at the current production stage and whether pricing or delivery will change. Wait for written acknowledgment before treating the revision as accepted.
Pack Medals Around the Award Ceremony

Arrange a labeled bag or box for each division so volunteers can collect its complete award allocation. Protect individual medals where needed to prevent surfaces rubbing together during transport.
Count doubles awards as matching pairs. Check that both partners receive the same medal design, finish and ribbon. Pack according to the confirmed award structure, including any additional bronze pairs. For ribbon materials and customization options, see our guide to ribbons for medals.
Labels should show the division ID, event, age or skill category, and quantities by finish. Match them to the latest approved award list. If supplier sorting is required, confirm availability and charges in advance; otherwise, arrange it locally. Check the shipment upon arrival and keep spare stock separately marked.
よくある質問
Should we order spare pickleball medals?
Consider uncertain award requirements separately from replacement stock for damaged or missing pieces. Extra medals should address an identified need, rather than an automatic percentage of the order. Spares with permanent division text are less flexible than medals carrying shared event artwork.
Can we reuse the design next year?
Possibly, but check where the year appears. Changing a year formed in raised or recessed metal may involve tooling changes. Engraved, printed or ribbon details involve different work and costs. Confirm the proposed update before assuming a repeat order will be identical.
Can we request a quote before divisions are final?
Yes. Share the current list and mark provisional quantities. Ask which quantities, design versions and packing services the quote includes, and when remaining details must be confirmed.
Request a Quote
Send your event date, required arrival date, delivery country or ZIP code, and current division list—even if it is still provisional. Include estimated medal quantities and any artwork you have. We can discuss the options and clarify what the quote includes before you finalize the order.
